The 2026-27 year: eight themed terms

August 10, 2026 to June 4, 2027. Each term has its own theme; many build toward a real event, a family showcase, the MakerFaire, the Winter Market, or the year-end Space Expo.

The terms

T1 · Aug 10 - Sep 11, 2026

Ancient Technology & Architecture

How did people build wonders, move stones, and measure time before machines? Teams build working answers: siege engines tuned week after week, arches that grow into aqueducts, models of the ancient world.

Team projects: Siege Engines, Arches & Aqueducts, Ancient Inventions, Wonders of the World

T2 · Sep 14 - Oct 16, 2026

Stories, Startups & Showcase

A term about making things people watch, play, and buy: storytelling, animation, a live game show, and a startup studio, all building toward a family showcase where teams present and perform.

Team projects: Improv & Storytelling, Animator's Toolkit, Game Show, Startup Studio, Stop Motion & showcase prep

T3 · Oct 19 - Nov 20, 2026

Makers

The MakerFaire term. Cosplay and props, LED wearables, escape room builds, and a cardboard arcade, with prototypes ready to exhibit at the MakerFaire in November. The cosplay line doubles as Halloween costume work.

Team projects: Cosplay & Props, LED Art & Wearables, Escape Room Architects, Cardboard Arcade

T4 · Nov 30 - Dec 18, 2026

Winter Market

A three-week business sprint. Kids design products, price them, market them, and sell them for real at the Winter Market: a popcorn factory, laser-engraved goods, t-shirts, and a crash course in what sells and why.

Team projects: Popcorn Factory, Product Design, Marketing & Media, Financial Literacy, market prep

T5 · Jan 4 - Feb 5, 2027

Robotics & Automation

Motors, sensors, circuits, and machines that do things on their own. Younger members invent with micro:bit, older members wire Arduino machines, and everyone learns to think in systems.

Team projects: Arduino Machines, micro:bit Inventions, SPIKE Robotics, Systems Thinking & Turing Tumble

T6 · Feb 8 - Mar 12, 2027

Shipwrecks & the Sea

Wreck investigations, ship engineering, marine biology, and the ship's galley, where food science means salting, pickling, and hardtack. Equal parts history lab, workshop floor, and ocean science.

Team projects: Shipwreck Investigators, The Ship's Galley, Ship Engineering, Marine Biology Lab

T7 · Mar 22 - Apr 23, 2027

Game Studio

Kids become game designers across four formats: video games in Flowlab, a physical arcade machine with real controllers and LEDs, original board games, and a chess ladder that runs all term.

Team projects: Flowlab Video Game Design, Arcade Machines, Board Game Design, Chess

T8 · Apr 26 - Jun 4, 2027

Mission Artemis & Space

The year ends looking up. Six weeks on life in space, landers that fall with style, habitat design, and micro:bit satellites, closing with the Space Expo, our year-end exhibition for families.

Team projects: Life in Space, Falling With Style (landers), Space Habitat Design, micro:bit Satellites

Camps and closures

  • Thanksgiving camp week: Nov 23 to 27

  • Winter camp: Dec 21 to 23, then closed for winter break Dec 24 to Jan 3

  • Spring break: closed Mar 15 to 19

  • Also closed: Labor Day (Sep 7), Columbus Day (Oct 12), Veterans Day (Nov 11), MLK Day (Jan 18), Presidents Day (Feb 15), Memorial Day (May 31)

Our breaks align with the Seminole and Orange County school calendars this year. Workshop titles in the guide are representative; this page and each center's page carry the current schedule. Hard-dated public events move only for weather or safety, and we notify families by email.

Wondering which weekday to choose? Each weekday has its own project and team, and coming the same day each week keeps your child with the same crew through a full term arc. Because teams stay small and popular days fill first, secure your days early. Book a tour and ask.
